The global wound care industry has seen numerous technological developments and has established itself as a standard treatment for acute and chronic wounds. Due to the success of modern wound measure products in controlling wounds, which allows for faster healing, traditional wound care management measures are increasingly being replaced. The worldwide wound care industry is predicted to develop as more new wound care management solutions are introduced. For example, Johnson & Johnson's Ethicon and DePuy Synthes (a J&J subsidiary) launched tailored wound closure kits for orthopaedic surgery in the United States in 2017. Ethicon's Stratafix knotless tissue control devices and the Dermabond Prineo skin closure system are included in the newly released kits.
Global Wound Care Market - Restraints
The
worldwide wound
care market growth may be hampered by an increasing number of product
recalls due to product failure, component inconsistencies, and packaging
issues. For example, the FDA initiated a product recall of Hyalomatrix products
from Anika Therapeutics, Inc. in May 2018 due to their vulnerability to
degradation as a result of PVC decomposition in the packing material during
sterilisation, which resulted in film degradation. It's possible that product
integrity will be jeopardised in the long run. On May 10, 2019, the product was
discontinued.
Global Wound Care Market - Regional
Insights
The global wound
care market is divided into five regions: North America, Latin America,
Europe, Asia Pacific, the Middle East, and Africa. Because of the rising
launches of innovative wound care products in the United States, North America
is likely to have a prominent position in the global wound care market
throughout the forecast period. For example, ConvaTec Group Plc. Company
debuted its Foam Lite ConvaTec dressing in the United States in April 2017 for
the treatment of acute and chronic wounds.
In the
global wound care industry, Asia Pacific is predicted to grow rapidly. Because
of the rising frequency of chronic wounds in Asia Pacific, the market is likely
to grow throughout the forecast period.
