Enteral nutrition, often known as tube feeding, is any technique of feeding that uses the GI system to deliver caloric requirements, such as a regular oral diet or liquid supplements. A nasogastric feeding tube, also known as a nasoenteral tube, is inserted into the stomach by the nose, whereas a jejunostomy tube is inserted directly into the skin. Patients with chronic diseases such as head trauma, cancer, and stroke are given the tube feeding formula. Furthermore, the nutrition formula aids premature infants in gaining the nourishment and drugs they require.
Rising prevalence of chronic diseases
is expected to drive the market growth over the forecast period
For patients
with chronic medical conditions, enteral nutrition is indicated to counteract a
weakened immune system, which affects eating patterns and results in
significant weight loss. Furthermore, the worldwide enteral
nutrition market is predicted to rise due to the rising prevalence of
chronic disorders such as diabetes, chronic kidney disease, and malnutrition
over the forecast period.
According to
the International Diabetes Federation (IDF), 463 million persons aged 20 to 79
had diabetes in 2019, with that number predicted to rise to 700 million by
2045, a 51.2 percent increase between 2019 and 2045. According to the
International Diabetes Federation (IDF), around 374 million people worldwide
are at risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
Increasing government initiatives,
investments, and funding for research and development is expected to drive the
market growth over the forecast period
For example,
the Tanzanian government published the National Multi-sectoral Nutrition Action
Plan (NMNAP) for 2016-2021 in September 2017 to address malnutrition issues in
the country. On this project, Nutrition International's Technical Assistance
Program collaborated with the Tanzanian government.
Over the
projected period, factors such as investments in research & development of
novel medical nutritional products targeting various health issues, as well as
funding from various nutrition firms, are expected to fuel the worldwide enteral
nutrition market growth.
